The right temperature for garlic

Generally a temperature of 15 to 18 degrees is ideal for storing garlic. For example, a storage place closer to the floor will be cooler than the top shelves in your kitchen cupboard, and therefore being a better option. Avoid as well placing the garlic near the oven, stove or any other hot appliance. Additionnaly, choose a spot where no bright sunlight falls on it as it is preferable for storage conditions.

Garlic bulbs are usually sold in airated nets, and for good reason. The garlic cloves need constant ventilation to maintain their extend their shelf life at home. Hencewise, it is best to store the garlic cloves separately rather than in a pantry, bag or airtight storage box.

Store peeled garlic cloves

Have you accidentally peeled more cloves than you need? If so, don’t worry no more as it is possible to store it for a while. All you have to do is place the cloves in an airtight storage container (yes, you can if they are peeled). A glass container is better than a plastic one because plastic absorbs the strong garlic odor. The container must completly seal air off to prevent everything in your fridge from smelling like garlic. You can store the peeled and / or sliced ​​garlic in the refrigerator for up to two days.
